Trinity has established herself as one of the Australia’s pre-eminent proponents of house and techno since entering the club fray over a decade ago. As a DJ and Live act, Trinity has forged a reputation as a perfectionist, playing all across Australia, in addition to sets in Europe at Harry Klein in Munich, and Tresor and Studio R in Berlin, where she currently resides. Trinity’s versatility is one of her biggest strengths as an artist, with styles ranges from Chicago house and Detroit through to ambient and dub techno.
Renowned for her Sydney-based Loosekaboose event for over 8 years supporting local artists, Trinity is now instrumental in bringing many of the foremost figures in the international techno milieu to Australia through the 4our events, which have carved a niche in Sydney’s underground scene by showcasing the likes of Steffi, Luke Hess, Eli Verviene and Eric Cloutier.
Being part of production duo Trinity & Beyond alongside John Tzineris for the past 5 years, Trinity will finally be releasing her first solo productions in 2014 with OOC Records and Nightime Drama. As Trinity & Beyond, the 2 artists released 7 EPs on various different labels including Manual Music and BEEF records. The duos productions attracted the attention of some international heavyweights, including dub techno producer XDB, who reworked the track ‘Reign’. This followed the release of the remix of German duo Klartraum alongside reworks from the likes of Vince Watson and Ian Pooley on Klartraum’s Secret Moon Remixed album and Alexkid’s remix of ‘This Dream’ on Sasse’s Moodmusic label in 2012.
These releases form the backstory to Blinded by 1000 Points of Light, Trinity and Beyond’s debut album released in March 2014. Recorded live, Blinded by 1000 Points of Light comprises nine tracks of atmospheric melodies and deep chords that traverse techno, progressive and minimal influences which was endorsed by Sasha, rounding off a busy year for one of the hardest working producers in the Australian club realm.
ColtEP: Where are you now and where you wish to be?
Trinity: I’m exactly where I want to be at the moment, in Berlin writing music.
ColtEP: What is your inspiration for creating your tracks?
Trinity: It comes from so many places, but a lot of the time I get inspired when I’m out at a club listening to great music, or listening to a good dj mix, or hearing tracks from some of my favourite artists.
ColtEP: Do you have a special approach/strategy for producing your music?
Trinity: No, its always different. Sometimes I’ll just jam with my hardware and hear some great sounds and press record. Other times I’ll play around with my vst ‘s in Ableton and my controller. Other times I collaborate with another producer in their studio with their DAW.
ColtEP: Where and how do you produce your music?
Trinity: I have a studio set up at home, which is in between Sydney and Berlin. I play quite a few live gigs these days which are usually made with brand new material for each set, so it always gives me a great foundation for new tracks. A lot of the time I will record the live jam and then edit into tracks.
ColtEP: What was your musical progress?
Trinity: My DJ career began about 12 years ago in Sydney, Australia. Pretty soon after I started promoting a party called Loosekaboose which ran for 8 years and focused on local artists in the scene. I then got together with a bass guitarist and started collaborating as production duo Trinity & Beyond. I started using our music in live sets and remixed them on the fly. It was a natural progression to start writing my own material for my live sets which led to me producing my own music.
ColtEP: Which LP´s you would recommend to everybody (maybe 3 or 5)?
Voices from the lake – Dozzy and Neel
Prologue Portefuille 3 - Etapp Kyle, Artefakt, Mod21
Adam Michalak - Returning to Essence EP
ColtEP: What do you wish for your future?
Trinity: I really just want to be happy in whatever I do and don’t have any big expectations with where I want to be. Music has been my passion for 12 years now and its brought me so many beautiful things in my life, including friends and wonderful life experiences. I just want to continue on that same path.
